Communication: Ship to shore communication is via VHF Channel 12.

Description: The port of Haydarpasa is situated on the Anatolian side of Bosphorus in Istanbul. The port serves a hinterland, which is the most industrialised area of Turkey. It has a great importance being a gateway to the world as the biggest container port in Marmara Region.

Pilotage: By the Turkish Maritime Organisation (TDI), compulsory

Towage: By the Port Administration; Free up to 1500 GRT, one tugboat is compulsory up to 5000 GRT, two tugboats are compulsory for vessels of more than 5000 GRT; 5 tugs available up to 2500 HP

Equipment: The handling equipment at the port includes 2 container quayside gantry cranes of 40 tons capacity, 21 shore and yard cranes of 3 to 35 tons capacity, 4 reach stackers of 40 tons capacity, 9 transtainers 0 40 tons capacity, 18 mobile cranes of 5 to 25 tons capacity, 6 container forklifts of 10 to 42 tons capacity, 54 general cargo forklifts of 2 to 5 tons capacity, 19 tugmasters, 1 loader, 6 tractors, 25 trailers of 40 tons capacity, 10 trailers of 20 tons capacity.

Floating: The floating craft at the port comprise a floating crane of 250 tons capacity, 5 tugboats, 3 rail ferries and 4 mooring boats.

Storage: open area: 126.750 m2, covered area: 29.808 m2 .

Container: Container Terminal of Haydarpasa Port:
Space = 100.000 m2, Holding capacity 6000 TEU
A container freight station of 3.600 m2 is available behind the container quay:
Reefer points for refrigerated containers are available.

Cargo: General Cargo Facilities:
Total length of the berths= 2134 m (alongside depth= 6 to 9,5 m)
Bulk Cargo Facilities:
The length of the berth (Nr.3) serving the dry bulk traffic is 190 m (alongside depth= 8,2 m).
1 grain silo (total capacity 34.000 tons) is connected by a conveyor system with the quay.
The Ro-Ro berth (NR. 17) has 160 m length with an alongside depth of 8 m.
